About

Polebrook & Armston War Memorial

It was dedicated TO THE MEN OF POLEBROOK AND ARMSTON WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-18. However, two entries were added after the 2nd World War of 1939 - 1945.

The memorial is described as being unusual and consists of a single-stepped octagonal base, surmounted by a low square-sectioned plinth, on which rests the pad of a slightly tapering cylindrical column. It supports an urn topped by an orb, on which stands a copper cross, the three terminals of which are fleurs de lis. Incised side panels are set into the plinth, bearing the inscription in black-painted lettering. The memorial base stands on a shallow road island.
